Udston Hospital offers long-term care for elderly patients and a rehabilitation unit. A range of other services including Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Dietetics, Podiatry and Speech & Language Therapy is provided from the hospital on an outpatient basis.

Primarily caring for the older adult, Udston Hospital strives to offer its patients the very best of care and attention. Respect for and understanding of those whom we serve is fundamental to the approach that is taken in ensuring that these senior citizens, many of whom are completely dependent, continue to receive appropriate and committed support in a friendly and welcoming environment.
Avon Ward
This is a 30 bedded ward which caters for Long Term Care of elderly patients. Patients will usually have been referred here from Hairmyres Hospital following medical assessment which has confirmed that their on-going needs can best be met from continuing NHS inpatient care. Some patients may be accommodated pending the outcome of further medical interventions and may, thereafter, be able to go home or be placed within a nursing or residential care facility.
The ward is arranged in four six bed rooms and six single rooms and caters for male and female patients in such a manner as to preserve dignity and respect at all times.
Normal visiting times are 2.00pm – 4.00pm and 7.00pm – 8.00pm, 7 days a week but arrangements outwith these can easily be accommodated by speaking to staff.
Douglas Ward
The ward has 30 beds arranged in four six bedded rooms and six single rooms. It caters for Long Term Care of elderly patients who will usually have been referred here from Hairmyres Hospital following medical assessment which has confirmed that their on-going needs can best be met from continuing NHS inpatient care.
