NHS Lanarkshire's Healthcare Associated Infection (HAI) Service 

 

The NHS Lanarkshire’s HAI service is led by an HAI Manager, Nurse Consultant and Lead Infection Control Doctor. The service comprises Infection Control Teams based in each acute hospital, a Team in Primary Care and a range of nurses specialising in the field of hand hygiene, surveillance and tissue viability. The service provides expert advice to all clinicians, managers and outside agencies

This consultancy-based service assists in leading and developing clinical practice to facilitate the delivery of high-quality, proactive services that reflect national standards. The service promotes evidence-based and best practice through team working with relevant NHS stakeholders and other partnerships including public involvement where appropriate.

The service provides expert advice to all clinicians, managers and outside agencies when required. A wide range of audit, surveillance, education and training activities is offered to all disciplines.

The HAI Service is proactive in assisting in the identification, development, implementation and monitoring of local and national guidelines, policies and information leaflets. These are based on findings from research, consensus opinion, best practice, national standards and legislation where relevant.

The service offers input to operational issues as well as strategic planning of service delivery. Expert advice is provided in relation to service development and redesign and where there are proposed new facilities or refurbishment of existing premises.
