The Role of the Psychiatry Department

Welcome to the Psychiatry department, Adult Learning Disability Service. Our department looks after the mental health and epilepsy of people with learning disabilities.

Mental health problems might include things like feeling sad, feeling angry, feeling worried and behaving differently – i.e. doing things you wouldn’t usually do, being aggressive to other people, hurting yourself.

Epilepsy is a condition where people have seizures (fits). There are lots of different types of seizure.

Local Services

We run Outpatient Clinics at Kirklands and at some of the Health Centres in North and South Lanarkshire.
